Field trips to sites on the grounds of the Camp and adjacent areas will be conducted in conjunction with the meeting.  If the weather is fine both days, these will be on Sunday afternoon, after the completion of the presentations.  Depending on interest, there will also possibly be a trip conducted prior to breakfast on Sunday.


 


Registration    

The 2009 conference is being held at Camp Wightman, on the shores of Billings Lake in North Stonington, CT.  Register early if you wish to reserve lodging at the Camp.  There are a number of additional lodging options in the area for latecomers (see below).  Registration forms can be accessed here and should be submitted online.   If you want to be assured of a bed, register early.   Those not staying overnight at Camp Wightman are welcome to partake of the meeting and included meals.  See the registration form for details and prices, which include an additional $8.00 daily fee for those not staying overnight.


 

Lodging    

We have reserved the Cathcart Lodge at the camp for our attendees.  This building houses at total of 33 people, 3 to a room, with one upper bunk per room.  If you would like to reserve a lower bunk, please note this on your registration.  A limited number of additional beds are available at the CampFIRST COME, FIRST SERVED.  Submit the Registration Form promptly to reserve a place.

Cathcart Lodge contains full kitchen facilities if you would like to bring food or beverages for snacks or meals.

PLEASE NOTE:  Camp Wightman is operated by the American Baptist Churches of Connecticut.  ABSOLUTELY NO ALCOHOL IS ALLOWED ON CAMP PROPERTY.  If you would like to drink, the Camp is only 10 minutes from Foxwoods.

Camp Wightman can accept arrivals any time after 4:00 PM on Friday afternoon, October 30.

Reminder:  Daylight Savings Time ends at 2:00 AM Nov. 1.

 

 

 


 

Directions    

While the Camp is located in the town of North Stonington, its driveway begins in the town of Griswold.  For GPS navigational devices, enter the address as: 207 Coal Pit Hill Rd.; Griswold, CT  06351.   Cathcart Lodge is on the left behind the sign and the small basketball court, prior to descending the hill down to the dining hall on the lake shore.

From I-95 Southbound:  Exit 92.  At the end of the ramp, turn right onto Rt. 49. Follow Rt. 49 to Rt. 184. Turn left and follow Rt. 184 to the rotary. Continue a quarter of the way around the rotary to Rt. 2 West.  Continue about 4 miles on Rt. 2.Follow Route 2 West  4.0 miles to the light at Route 201.  Turn right at the light and continue 5.2 miles until the "S" curves with the 15 MPH speed limit.  IMMEDIATELY after the "S" curves is the entrance to Coal Pit Hill Rd., the steep dirt road ascending to the right.  The Camp is located 1.6 miles in, at the end of this road.  Online directions    

From I-95 Northbound:  Exit 92.  Follow Rt. 2 West through the Rt. 184 rotary.  Continue half way around the rotary to Rt. 2 West.  Continue about 4 miles on Rt. 2.Follow Route 2 West  4.0 miles to the light at Route 201.  Turn right at the light and continue 5.2 miles until the "S" curves with the 15 MPH speed limit.  IMMEDIATELY after the "S" curves is the entrance to Coal Pit Hill Rd., the steep dirt road ascending to the right.  The Camp is located 1.6 miles in, at the end of this road.

From I-395 Southbound:  Exit 86 (Route 201)  Follow Route 201 for a total of 8.3 miles until you arrive at Coal Pit Hill on the left, about 2.5 miles after crossing Route 165.  Coal Pit Hill Rd. is the steep dirt road ascending to the right.  The Camp is located 1.6 miles in, at the end of this road.

From I-395 Northbound:  Exit 85 (Route 164).  Follow signs toward Voluntown on Route 138.  Turn right on to Route 201 after 4.3 miles.  Turn left on to Coal Pit Hill Rd. about 2.5 miles after crossing Route 165.   Coal Pit Hill Rd. is the steep dirt road ascending to the right.  The Camp is located 1.6 miles in, at the end of this road.

By air:  T.F. Green Airport [PVD]  in Rhode Island is 52 minutes from Coal Pit Hill Rd.  I-95S to exit 5A to Rt 102S.  Turn right on to Rt 3S at 1.2 miles.  At 1.3 miles turn right on to Rt 165W.  At 13 miles turn left on to Rt 201S.  The Coal Pit Hill Rd. entrance is 2 miles on the left.

 
 

Alternate Lodging    


The entrance to Coal Pit Hill Rd. is just 10 minutes from Foxwoods, the world's largest casino, so there are many rooms in close proximity.  However, you will need to reserve well in advance to insure availability.  A listing of some of the options is below, with the closest options listed first:
